Wind Generators For Home

When considering the pros and cons of wind generators for home use, you have to think about the tower first. If your wind generator isn't in the air, it's not going to make you much electricity.

Honestly if you take a DIY approach you will save thousands of dollars, but only if you get that wind generator to spin. It doesn't have to be dangerous, and there are many different tower designs that are safe. The easiest to work on is a hinged design with a Gin pole. If your going to make your own tower, consider where the guy wires are going to be placed, and take some extra time to design a foot for your tower top, that way when you lower your tower, your generator is suspended and not forced on the ground. This will make for easier maintenance and will also protect your blades from damage.
Either way, have fun with your generator.
